My Friend & Co-worker, Jose, called me this weekend. He said, Phoenix, we as a Community MUST do something to help with the tragedy in Mexico: Over 300 dead, buildings in ruin, families torn apart. Jose, who is a part of Calgary’s Mexican Community is even more concerned because of his tight connections with Mexico City so you can also appreciate his motivation to help. I personally have never been to Mexico City but, like you, this does not stop me from giving or empathizing.
This week Jose has banded together Calgary’s Mexican Community & set-up a donation center at Olympic Plaza. But what Jose & his crew have also done is to remind us that we are a Community…a Community of giving, regardless of our beliefs & heritage. This is Calgary! Yes, they are looking for donations & yes, they are looking for volunteers. But no, you don’t have to be Mexican…just be you. Here are the details…and thank you.
