Never had I seen a solitary Food Truck in the middle of an open field
This was just the beginning of a well-orchestrated launch of the No Greater Love Music Festival, Aug. 12 – 13 (www.nogreaterlove.ca): Canada’s largest faith-based Christian Music festival. Cue the Prayer-Circle! With a tee-pee as the backdrop, all joined hands as singers Margaret Graham & Brian Houston commenced with the blessing of the event. Along with Pastor Jason Johnson, others were invited to share in this community gathering. This really was a scene from a movie from the site of Hollywood blockbusters: The Revenant, Shanghai Noon & Legends of the Fall.
Native ‘Chicken’ dancers & speeches from Stoney Nakoda elders, added to the experience, providing blessings of the land. And yes, there was food. Cue the bannock: traditional native eats. A tempting morsel which was the pre-lude to the tempting meals provided from the Awok Tacos Food Truck: meticulously positioned on the future site of the Music Festival. After all were fed, the crescendo to the event was announced: The Headliner, Country Music Legend, Reba McIntire.
As you’ll see and hear in this video link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX18VMQUYsk), co-creators Karri Ward & Tammy Love created this event, based on unity of faith, family and community. But having been there for the launch of this event I found myself enchanted by the moment, awe-struck by the beauty of Mother Nature and overwhelmed by the spirit. Let August 12th and 13th be your opportunity to experience a powerful moment in a breathtaking space, and embrace this first time for you.
